Is CutKilo online or in-person?
CutKilo is a fully online, doctor-led weight loss service. All consultations, prescriptions, and medical reviews are conducted remotely, allowing you to access care from the comfort of your home with ongoing clinical support.
If you specifically require an in-person appointment, this can be arranged by request at 86 Harley Street, London, W1G 7HP, where Dr Emil Gadimali maintains his private medical practice.
Can anyone take this treatment?
This treatment is suitable for most adults with a BMI of 30 or above, or 27 and above if they have weight-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, or sleep apnoea. However, it may not be appropriate for everyone.
At CutKilo, every patient undergoes a thorough medical assessment to ensure the treatment is safe and clinically appropriate. It is not recommended for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a history of certain medical conditions, such as pancreatitis or thyroid cancer.
What does CutKilo cost?
The CutKilo programme costs £300 per month and includes everything you need for safe, sustainable weight loss:
- Ongoing medical supervision
- Prescription weight loss medication (if clinically appropriate)
- Daily support from your personal health coach via WhatsApp, phone, or video
- Expert guidance from doctors, dieticians, and our wider health team
- No hidden fees and no long-term contracts—you can cancel anytime
How long is the plan?
We recommend a minimum commitment of 6 months to give your body time to respond and achieve safe, meaningful weight loss. However, you’re free to cancel at any time. For best and most sustainable results, many patients continue for 12 to 18 months. The total duration varies depending on your goals, progress, and how well you respond to treatment. Your doctor will personalise and adjust the plan along the way to support your success.
What is Mounjaro?
Mounjaro is a weekly injectable medication. It contains the active ingredient Tirzepatide – a synthetic peptide composed of 39 amino acids.
Tirzepatide is near 90% identical to two naturally occurring hormones in your body, GLP-1 and GIP. It works in your body to keep you feeling full for longer and lower your appetite. It also lowers your risk for cardiovascular disease and diabetes by reducing blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
Mounjaro comes in the form of a pre-filled injection pen with 4 doses that you administer yourself once a week.
Will CutKilo’s Mounjaro treatment be available on the NHS?
At present, Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is not routinely available on the NHS for weight loss. While the NHS may offer weight management treatments to eligible individuals under specific guidelines, access to newer medications like Mounjaro can be limited and subject to NHS England’s approval processes and NICE guidance.
CutKilo offers private access to Mounjaro under the supervision of a GMC-registered doctor, allowing patients to begin treatment without NHS referral or long waiting times. Our service is ideal for those seeking timely, tailored support on their weight loss journey
How much weight will I lose?
Clinical data shows that 96% of patients on the 10mg dose of Mounjaro achieve a weight loss of over 5% of their body weight. On average, patients lose around 16% of their body weight with the 5mg dose, and up to 21.4% with the 10mg dose.
At CutKilo, we typically recommend gradually increasing to the 10mg dose to maximise results while minimising side effects. However, your treatment plan will be carefully tailored to your individual response and tolerance.
Will I lose muscle or fat?
Clinical studies have shown that approximately 75% of the weight lost with treatment is body fat, while around 25% may come from lean muscle mass.
In a sub-study of SURMOUNT-1 using DEXA scans, tirzepatide treatment led to significantly greater loss of fat mass than lean mass, resulting in improved body composition compared to placebo after 72 weeks. Most weight loss came from fat — including visceral fat — with a fat-to-muscle loss ratio of approximately 3:1.
To help preserve muscle, it is important to follow a high-protein diet and engage in regular resistance or weight training as part of your weight loss journey.
Are there any side effects?
Tirzepatide is generally well-tolerated, but like all medications, it can cause side effects. The most commonly reported effects are gastrointestinal, especially during the first few weeks of treatment or when increasing the dose. Severe side effects are rare but important to be aware of.
Common side effects (typically within the first 4–6 weeks):
- Nausea – the most frequently reported symptom, affecting up to 50% of patients
- Diarrhoea
- Vomiting
- Decreased appetite
- Constipation
- Abdominal cramps
These effects often appear during dose escalation and usually resolve within about a week.
Less common but more serious side effects:
-
- Pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas): rare but potentially serious, occurring in approximately 2–3 out of 1,000 patients
- Gallbladder inflammation: a known risk with most weight loss methods, including bariatric surgery, seen in fewer than 3 in 1,000 patients
- Allergic reactions: very rare, but may range from mild skin rashes to severe reactions such as anaphylaxis
Are there any long-term side effects?
The first drug in this class of medications was approved back in 2005. So, we actually have more than 19 years of data on these drugs. Over the 19 years, the long-term effects of these medications are that they reduce the risk of developing diabetes by 90%, they reduce the risk of heart attacks by 20%, and we’ve recently learned they’ve reduced the risk of chronic kidney failure by 25%. So, those are the long-term effects! Specifically Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) was tested on thousands of patients in the clinical trials SURMOUNT and proven to be safe and effective.
Why blood tests are not offered prior to treatment?
Currently, there are no general recommendations for blood tests – such as checking liver values – in connection with Mounjaro treatment, unless the patient has a history of liver problems or similar past medical history.
The main risks of weight loss medication affecting the liver are gallstones and pancreatitis, occurring in 2 patients out of 1,000, but blood tests are only necessary if symptoms arise. Blood tests cannot be used to predict whether you as a patient will develop these conditions.
In accordance with good clinical practice, the purpose of any examination, including blood tests, should be carefully considered before it is performed. Since routine blood tests in connection with Mounjaro treatment have no direct consequences for the course of treatment, we do not consider them necessary, in line with the current guidelines from NICE.
Why do I need to follow the CutKilo lifestyle intervention?
While the medication will help you to 20-25% of bodyweight, maintaining the weight loss effectively requires fundamental lifestyle changes. The best way to achieve this is with the dedicated and personal support of our health experts led by our dieticians and nutritionists. At CutKilo, we stress the importance of combining weight loss medication with a strong focus on lifestyle changes, as we do not support the use of medication without this critical component.
Why do you not offer Wegovy (Ozempic)?
Wegovy® and Ozempic® share the same active ingredient – semaglutide. Semaglutide mimics the GLP-1 hormone which is released when we eat. Semaglutide helps the body make insulin and makes you feel full, very much similar to Tirzepatide. Where Tirzepatide acts on GLP1 and GIP (gastric inhibitory peptide) receptors, showing higher effectiveness and better side effect profile reported by the patients. Additionally, Mounjaro (Tirzepatide) has a higher response rate to treatment of 96% (at 10mg dose) (Source: surmount-1 trial), than Wegovy at 86% (taking the maximum 2.4mg dose)

We prefer to offer only the best-in-class treatment based on our team’s extensive research of the current treatments available, as well as the pipeline formulations going through extensive clinical trials.
How do I contact my health team?
At CutKilo, staying connected is easy. You can reach us via WhatsApp, telephone, or video call. Whether you need to speak with a doctor, dietician, or another healthcare professional, we’ll make sure you’re connected to the right person for the support you need.
Will I regain weight in the future?
Weight regain is possible after stopping treatment, as with any weight loss approach. For some patients, ongoing or even lifelong treatment may be necessary to maintain results, especially if underlying metabolic factors are present.
However, the risk of regaining weight can be significantly reduced by adopting long-term lifestyle changes, including healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, and continued support.
TRADITIONAL WEIGHT LOSS SOLUTIONS
Achieving significant weight loss through diet and exercise can often be challenging, with many people finding it difficult to maintain long-term results. Studies show that traditional methods often lead to limited success, highlighting the importance of medical support for those needing more effective, sustainable solutions.
WHAT HEALTHY WEIGHT LOSS LOOKS LIKE
In 2022, 45% of adults in England aimed to lose weight, with 52% of these being women. Sustainable weight loss is best achieved through a balanced, calorie-controlled diet and regular physical activity, emphasising whole foods like vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains while reducing processed foods, sugars, and unhealthy fats.
Consistency in healthy eating, exercise (cardio and strength training), proper sleep, and stress management can lead to lasting results. However, restrictive diets can slow metabolism and increase hunger, causing many to regain lost weight. Addressing factors like hormonal balance and appetite regulation is crucial to prevent cycles of weight regain.
WEIGHT GAIN - THE STATISTICS
Weight gain has become a growing concern globally, with statistics showing that approximately 75% of adults aged 45-74 are classified as overweight.
Being overweight is typically determined by calculating Body Mass Index (BMI), which assesses weight in relation to height. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 indicates overweight, while a BMI over 30 signals obesity – which can lower your life expectancy.
Crunch the numbers with our BMI Calculator
*Enter your height and weight into our BMI calculator to estimate your healthy range and see how much weight you can safely lose. We’ll use this figure as a useful indication in your initial consultation.
If you have an Asian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Black African or African-Caribbean family background you’ll need to use a lower BMI score to measure overweight and obesity:
- 23 to 27.4 -you’re in the overweight range
- 27.5 or above -you’re in the obese range
